An EPDM roof is a single sheet of thick rubber, cut to size and bonded to the roof deck. Single ply covers a family of similar membranes, fixed or glued down in wide rolls. Both give a flat roof one continuous waterproof skin with very few joints, and joints are where flat roofs leak. The membranes are hard wearing and stay flexible, so they cope with the movement and weather a flat roof takes. Where single ply and EPDM work best
Rubber and single ply suit extension roofs, garage roofs and any flat roof where the old covering has failed. They come into their own where the detailing matters. Where the roof meets a house wall or parapet, we form neat upstands, dressed and trimmed so there is no loose edge for the wind to lift. They also pair well with flat rooflights, which we can fit as part of the same job to bring light into the room below.

What fitting involves
We strip the old covering back to the deck and check the boards underneath. Anything soft or rotten gets replaced, because a membrane is only as good as what it sits on. The membrane is then bonded or mechanically fixed, upstands are formed at walls and edges, trims go on, and outlets are sealed in so the roof drains properly. You are left with one clean, continuous surface, no patchwork.
