Flat Roofing

We build, replace and repair flat roofs across Colchester: felt, GRP and built-up systems for extensions, garages and dormers. BES Roofing is run by Josh from Blue Barns Business Park in Ardleigh, on the edge of Colchester, and we have been in the trade for over 15 years. What the work involves

We build flat roofs for extensions, garages and dormers. We work in three main systems: traditional felt, GRP fibreglass, and built-up flat roofing. Where the roof covers a heated room, a kitchen extension or a dormer bedroom for example, we build it as a warm deck, with the insulation above the joists so the structure below stays dry. We also fit rooflights into new and existing flat roofs.

When a flat roof needs attention

Flat roofs fail in predictable ways, and the signs are usually easy to spot:

• Ponding: water still sitting on the roof days after the rain has stopped.
• Blisters and bubbles in the felt where trapped moisture has lifted the surface.
• Leaks at the upstands, where the flat roof meets a wall or parapet.
• Age: a felt roof that has already been patched more than once is usually telling you something.

Not every tired roof needs replacing. If a repair will sort it properly, we will say so and quote for Roof Repairs instead. If water is getting in and nobody can find where, our Electronic Leak Detection traces the leak electronically before we lift anything.

You get a written quote before any work starts, and the quote is free. We are fully insured, we turn up when we say we will and we leave the job tidy.
