Pitched Roofing

A tired pitched roof rarely fails all at once. It drops a tile here, lets damp through there, until patching it stops making sense. When it gets to that point, we strip it back and rebuild it properly. BES Roofing carries out re-roofs and new pitched roofs across Colchester and the surrounding towns: slate, clay and concrete tile, with new underlay and battens underneath. Run by Josh, trading for over 15 years, fully insured, and every job quoted free and up front.

The work

On a re-roof we strip the old covering back to the timbers, fit new underlay and new battens, then re-cover in natural slate, clay tile or concrete tile, matched to the house and the street. We build new pitched roofs to the same spec. Ridges and hips are finished properly, not left as an afterthought, and where the roof meets a chimney or a valley the lead is dressed by hand. When to re-roof rather than repair

Not every problem needs a new roof, and we’ll tell you when it doesn’t. A slipped tile, storm damage or one persistent leak is usually a job for Roof Repairs, and we’d rather do a morning’s repair than sell you a re-roof you don’t need. Think about re-roofing when the underlay has perished, when tiles are slipping in more than one place, or when you’re paying for the same repair every winter. If it’s not obvious, we get up and look before we quote either way.

How we work

You call or email, we look at the roof, and you get a free quote before any work starts. We turn up when we say we will and leave the site tidy. We’re based at Blue Barns Business Park in Ardleigh, so most of our pitched work stays local: roofers in Colchester, Mersea, Clacton and Frinton, with jobs across Essex, Suffolk and London.
